Apache Junction is not a big city by any means. Instead, it is a quiet, community centered mainly around families. There are many things to do in Apache Junction, some of the activities are typical and some are out-of the ordinary. For the new resident of Apache Junction, it may at first seem boring. But one only has to look to see the many individual restaraunts and quaint little boutiques and shops that sprinkle the shopping areas.
A quick 4.5 mile car trip outside of town will land you in the Ghost Town of Goldfield. Goldfield was once an active mining town filled with prospectors and their families on the hunt for gold, gold and more gold. Today it is a popular destination for locals and tourists, all of which find many inexpensive activities and shopping about the little town.
Another nice day trip is to the Lost Dutchman State Park. Dutchman's park is a mere five miles out of town. A huge, green and well maintained facility, there are picnic tables and single family and group campgrounds. There are showers and running water restrooms for those family members who aren't into the full "nature" experience. There is also a gift shop near the main entrance in case a camping item was omitted.
Apache Junction may be small in size, but it certainly makes up for it in heart.

As a twenty nine year old, married, mother of 2 children living in Apache Junction, Arizona, let me say that the thing that first drew me to this outstanding community is it's standard for saftey. The crime rate is extremely low.
There are many things for people of all ages to do here as well. Their multi-generational center is a top of the line facility that boasts activities for all ages from the Apache Junction Active Adult Center which offers lunches to seniors, to the Rec center which has a number of special interest classes, fitness programs, public rentals and a good number of sports leagues for all age groups. There is also The Lost Dutchmen State Park which is name after a fabled lost gold mine where you can enjoy a weekend of camping or hiking. You can also take in the scenery (which will leave you breathless) and many chances to see the native wildlife, and plants that are indigenous to the area.
Apache Junction, Arizona is truly God's country, with it's amazing views and fresh air you will surely enjoy this community and all it has to offer. Not only is this a safe and relaxing community, it is an amazing place to raise a family and my husband and I look forward to living out our years in this fantastic town, which supplies us with a neverending list of things to do and sites to see.
