My husband was transferred from Seattle, Washington to Scottsdale, Arizona a little over a year ago.
Initially, I was not excited about moving from the lush green landscape of the Pacific Northwest to what I thought would be the dry, dusty desert. I couldn't have been more wrong. I enjoy the warmer temperatures, and all of the sunshine.
Our 2-year-old son loves going to Vista del Camino Park spray pad. He's not quite old enough to swim, and this gives him the perfect opportunity to take part in all of the water play. When we aren't splashing around at the spray pad, we love to take him to the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Here they have playgrounds, train museums, and they even offer train rides. On the weekends our family enjoys free concerts in one of the many upscale open-air shopping centers in Scottsdale. I think the selection and diversity of shopping available here could not be outdone. Kierland Commons and Desert Ridge centers are both retail therapy at it's finest.
There is an abundance of hiking in Scottsdale at one of their many parks. My favorite area is the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. It's so unlike any other place that I've been. I always see different wildlife, and am in awe of the array of cactus. This area is also available for biking, and horseback riding. It's an amazing opportunity to be able to take in such beautiful landscape every day. Real estate Scottsdale area is simply breathtaking. We never tire of feasting our eyes on the amazing homes and view properties amongst which we now call home. I must say, our family is transitioning to desert life quite well. As a recent graduate of Arizona State University in nearby Tempe, I decided to make the short but worthwhile move to Scottsdale to start my new career, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.
The atmosphere of the city is just what I was looking for. I live in walking distance from Scottsdale's downtown area, which is great for when my friends and I want to grab a bite to eat or grab a drink after work. Besides the restaurants, there is always something happening in the area. I always make a point to head down to the Old Town Farmers' Market that is held on 1st street every Saturday morning in the spring. It is a great chance to see the people of Scottsdale out and about while picking up some good food as well. Another absolutely great thing about Scottsdale is its close proximity to a large amount of well-kept trails just outside of the city. Scottsdale is located right in the middle of a beautiful natural area, so at some point or another you are bound to end up on these trails.
I used to take my mountain bike out to the trails, but recently I have been opting to leave it behind and instead do some hiking. I enjoy taking in the scenery at the slower pace. Scottsdale is a city that can provide for both the people who want to live fast or those who would prefer to take it easy, as well as everyone in between. Submitted to: Real Estate Scottsdale Area
